Life.Is.Good... and it's getting better all the time...

Inspirational quotes floated in my head as I tried to come up with a title for this Blog.
  • "If you're tired of starting over, stop giving up." Shia Lebeouf
  • "The difference between try and triumph is just a little -umph." Marvin Phillips
  • And my personal favorite... "We become what we want to be by consistently being what we want to become each day." Richard G. Scott
The truth is, I have been putting immediate gratification in the form of alcohol in front of my health and well-being for 6+ years now. It is a result of Roux en Y Gastric Bypass, which biologically makes you absorb alcohol at a very quick rate and often results in transfer addiction. No one knows why because a study wouldn't really profit anyone... at least that's my belief.

Anyway, it really doesn't matter how it started. It matters how it ends.

What I know is:

  • My life is better when I am not in a drunken stupor, passed out.
  • My health was better before I let alcohol, coupled with bad food choices when drunk, help me regain 80 lbs.
  • I was a better person when those I love could depend on me and I had integrity.
  • I was financially in better shape before I started wasting sooo much money on getting drunk, being out of work time and again due to rehab and giving my money to the legal system when I got a DWI. (Side note: Never ever did I ever think I would commit a crime. I know people who have suffered terrible losses due to drinking and driving and I am ashamed that I took that chance of hurting others.)

Long story short? I want to get back to living my best life. I am lucky enough to be grateful for the simple things in my life and to appreciate all that I have. I am no particular religion, though I grew up Christian, but I pray that God/Goddess or the Universe or My Best Self will help me prevail in this endeavor.
